The arrival of a man
Who's dressed as Santa Claus
Bearing all the many gifts
That sparkle like the stars
Remembering your golden smile
As bright as midnight sun
Your charm and easy manner
That softly beats your drum

Who gives us hope and pause

About Les Herman
Les spent his childhood exploring the rim rocks surrounding Billings, Montana and in his teen years he had the good fortune of calling the North Entrance to Yellowstone Park, Gardiner, MT his home. He served in Vietnam in 1969-70 and returned to Yellowstone Park where he began his Federal career as a fire lookout on Mt.Holmes. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Montana in 1978 while working summers in Yellowstone. He had a 33 year career with the federal government in aviation support and wildland fire suppression. This provided opportunities to travel to some of the most inspiring and beautiful places in this country and the world. Les never left home without his sketch pad and watercolor kit.
