Artist's Description
Yellowstone National Park has now been around for 150 years. The Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance to Yellowstone Park was constructed under the supervision of the US Army at Fort Yellowstone, it’s cornerstone was laid by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903. Above the arch is inscribed “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People”. Electric Peak, the Roosevelt Arch and ravens have been a common theme for over 20 years, creating Christmas ravens for old and new Yellowstone friends. Red sky warning, Yellowstone will survive. About Les Herman
Les spent his childhood exploring the rim rocks surrounding Billings, Montana and in his teen years he had the good fortune of calling the North Entrance to Yellowstone Park, Gardiner, MT his home. He served in Vietnam in 1969-70 and returned to Yellowstone Park where he began his Federal career as a fire lookout on Mt.Holmes. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Montana in 1978 while working summers in Yellowstone. He had a 33 year career with the federal government in aviation support and wildland fire suppression. This provided opportunities to travel to some of the most inspiring and beautiful places in this country and the world. Les never left home without his sketch pad and watercolor kit.
